Malware Protection – How to Stop Trojan: JS/HideLink.A from infecting your website

What is Malware?

Let us take the easy one first. “Malware” is short for malicious software and is typically used as a catch-all term to refer to any software designed to cause damage to a single computer, server, or computer network, whether it’s a virus, spyware, et al.

Can Malware Effect your Website?

Recently our office server crashed, that holds backup data from approximately 500 websites. It not only held files we used to make client websites. Before we develop a new website, we 1st make a backup copy of the old website.

With our good backup planning, we didn’t loose even one file, but what we discovered when we needed to restore all those files, was shocking!

Of the old websites, not built by Ameravant, our AntiVirus/Malware protection software, detected over 1,000 infected website pages from website made using WordPress and Joomula. Not even 1 page of approximately 500 websites that Ameravant built were infected.

Ameravant uses Enterprise architecture that protects our client’s websites, and layers of network protection to prevent malishious attacks on our websites.

Windows Defender detects and removes this threat.

This threat is a malicious JavaScript file that can open hidden content as you browse a website. It does this to improve the ranking of the targeted content in search engine results.

We have seen this threat added to compromised websites running vulnerable versions of Joomla and WordPress.
